Across our organisation we have the opportunity to offer placements to university students studying social work. Maria has been placed with our Scarborough team and sent this fantastic letter to the team following her placement. We wish Maria and all of our students the very best for their future and thank them for the hard work and insight they bring to our organisation.

Hiya Team

I would like to take this opportunity to tell everyone that I will be leaving my placement tomorrow.

I can’t believe it’s coming to an end. Only feels like yesterday, I just started, sick with nerves. I was totally scared to ring the buzzer at the main office. I first met David White and saw his smiling face and cheeky chops and after offering me a good old cup of tea I was instantly at ease.

I really have thoroughly enjoyed my time working at Poplar Villa and getting to know the young people. I have found working alongside the young people very rewarding. Kira Lumb has been a great teacher and when I have found my work challenging at times Kira has given me positive supervision that has helped balance me and guide me in the right direction. Thanks for everything Kira I’ve learnt so much from you.

I would also like to say thank you to the rest of the Foundation team for making me feel welcome and teaching me some valuable skills that I will take forward with me into my Social Work Career.

The housing support and intervention work that Foundation offer vulnerable young people is inspiring. I have felt very lucky to be a part of such dedicated hard working team that strives to make positive differences in young people’s lives every day.

I have decided due to enjoying my placement so much, I’m volunteering every Wednesday at Poplar villa. I have also applied for relief work as well.

Take care everyone,

Keep smiling.

Thanks,

Kind Regards,

Maria.
