Foundation are committed to supporting our customers by ensuring the professionalism of our staff. We offer a broad and deep training provision for our staff and are now empowering staff to deliver training. Janine Throupe, our Student and Volunteer Officer, is among the first of our in-house trainers. Janine has recently begun delivering ‘Mental Health First Aid Training’ both in house and externally. Here she introduces the course in her own words:

We all have’ Mental Health’ just as we do ‘Physical Health’, and with at least 1 in 4 of us suffering with poor mental health at some time in our lives,  it’s whether we able to recognise when good mental health deteriorates and what we need to do about it that matters.
Last year I qualified as an Adult Mental Health First Aid Trainer for Foundation and am now qualified to deliver MHFA England’s internationally recognised training course, designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis.
Since then Foundation have not only been able to offer this two day course on a regular basis to our own staff, but also to other individuals and organisations in the private, pubic and third sector allowing us to now bring in a regular training income for the very first time.
We have an exciting time ahead for Foundation too, as later in the year we will also be able to offer Youth Mental Health First Aid Training alongside our Adult Mental Health First Aid Training, so watch this space.

Janine received great feedback for the most recent training she delivered:
