Working in partnership with Progress Housing group, Foundation celebrated the opening of the Carriage Works in Skipton last week. The supported living housing scheme for 16-25 year olds opened its doors to Foundation customers in September and is now home to six young people.
The housing scheme has been developed by Progress Group and comprises of six, one-bedroom flats that will provide ‘move through’ accommodation for vulnerable young people who are supported by Foundation. Situated in a previously un-used, large corner terrace in Skipton and renovations have been funded through multiple channels; a £150,000 of grant from the government’s Homes and Communities Agency’s Affordable Homes Guarantee Programme (AHGP) secured by Progress, £120,000 from Craven District Council’s Empty Property Grant with additional funding of £60,000 grant from Craven District Council.
The Craven Team got busy preparing for the open day, planting winter flowers with the help of their volunteer and one of the customers from The Carriage Works. Foundation are supporting customers in the scheme, which is now full to capacity.
