Our students experience a challenging, varied and interesting placement during their time with us, learning many different skills including:
Students receive a comprehensive induction and are assigned with their own workplace supervisor who supports them throughout their placement.
We consistently get great feedback from students who have joined the Foundation family on placement – here’s what some of them have to say about their experience:
“The placement offered by Foundation has enabled me to fine tune and practice the social work skills and values that I have learned through study. I have had the opportunity to provide fantastic opportunities to intervene and support customers in a person-centred way. The team I was placed with are a credit to Foundation and to themselves.”
“My practice supervisor was very supportive and helped me to become more confident in my role as a housing support worker. I couldn’t have made it through my placement without all of his support and guidance. I’ve enjoyed the whole of my placement with Foundation, particularly being able to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable and socially excluded people. I think Foundation is a brilliant organisation and I have loved being on placement here, the whole team has been wonderful and very supportive, and I wish I could carry on working here.”
“The staff I have worked with are excellent and very supportive, they have been a fantastic team and always happy to help. I am going to miss this team and my customers. Seeing the progress customers have made is the reason I wanted to go into social work in the first place. The world would be a darker place without Foundation, keep up the good work!”
“My placement was in the Adult Offenders team. The consistent support, encouragement and guidance has been amazing and has helped make my time at Foundation fantastic. I was made to feel a part of the team from the first day and the varied learning opportunities I have undertaken have been a crucial part of my degree. I have been able to access in house training while on placement, e.g. Risk Assessment, Self Harm and Human Trafficking, which I am sure will provide a valuable base for my future career as a Social Worker. I could not have asked for a better first placement, and I feel that the experience I have had at Foundation has shaped and informed my degree, providing excellent opportunities to link theory and practice together, in a nurturing and constructive environment.”
