Caroline, a Community Champion from Foundation Redcar  is running the Redcar Half Marathon on the 2nd October, to raise money for Foundation’s Janet King Fund!

Foundation works across Redcar and Cleveland to raise awareness of domestic abuse within the community, and provides vital support to adults and children affected by it. Foundation provides advocacy and guidance to victims, as well emotional support and activities to children.

The Janet King fund is used to buy essential items for our clients to support them in their daily lives, such as school uniforms or furniture. Every penny donated is greatly appreciated and will make a big difference to the lives of domestic abuse victims and their families.

Caroline said:

“I have been domestic violence victim. I have decided  to run and represent Foundation as they gave me all the support I  needed i.e. accommodation, food, counselling, immigration residence, confidence and a place I can call home. By raising  money it will help other women who are experiencing domestic  violence.”

Foundation Redcar supports clients to become volunteers through its  Community Champion initiative, which involves connecting with people and communities, drawing on the clients’ own domestic abuse experience to engage with the public through campaigns, events, and conversations.
