Our commitment to partnership working, in order to deliver the best possible services for our customers, is central to Foundation and our core values. Our Calderdale team share two recent examples of innovations through partnerships that hope to positively impact the financial and mental health of our customers in the region.

Calderdale Combating Debt in partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP)

‘The Calderdale Team and CAP have joined together to help Calderdale customers combat their debt. Christians Against Poverty are a recognised charity that offer advice and courses to members of the public that are struggling with debt.

The majority of our customers are in receipt of benefits and struggle to manage their finances on a low income. We see the negative impact this has on their lives and their physical and mental wellbeing.

CAP have agreed to run a three week money course at our office to help customers we have that are struggling with debt and budgeting their finances. The three week course will look at building a budget plan, balancing that budget plan, using cash, managing savings, maintaining a healthy budget, dealing with debt and reducing debt.

I feel that the course has been very helpful and insightful! – Charlton

It has helped me manage my finances and given me more options where I can cut back and make changes to save money. – Niomi

Mental Health Workshop with Calderdale Healthy Minds (CHM)

CHM agreed to come and deliver a mental health workshop at the Calderdale office to customers that experience mental distress. CHM is a mental health charity based in Calderdale. It is a user led organisation that aims to promote the positive mental health and recovery of people affected by mental distress. The driving principles are peer support and recovery. 80% of their trustees, volunteers and staff have a personal experience of mental distress.

Despite the snow a few customers turned up and seemed to really enjoy themselves! A couple are interested in the support groups that they offer at various locations around Calderdale.’

Without partnerships such as these it would not be possible to be as diverse in tackling many of the core issues that impact on the lives of our customers. A huge well done to our Calderdale team for building such positive links in their community.
