Volunteering with our Charity

As a charity, volunteers are our life-blood! Their time, skills and dedication enable us to help our ever-growing client-base across Yorkshire and the North East.

If you’re thinking of volunteering for a local charity, have a quick look at Rebecca’s experience of working with Foundation’s Lancashire team.

Rebecca Haslam – Volunteer, Lancashire

My name’s Rebecca Haslam and I am a fully qualified, professional Integrative Therapist. I volunteer as a Counsellor with Foundation.

An integrative approach draws on the different tried and tested models of counselling to create the most helpful way to support the client – this is because each individual is unique. I work using a range of skills, as I believe each person needs to be considered as a whole. Counselling techniques must be tailored to their individual needs and personal circumstances.

Whilst volunteering with Foundation, I offer counselling to the high risk offenders who have been within the prison service and are adapting back within society, exploring issues such as anxiety, depression, childhood trauma, shame, and bereavement.

Counselling is a positive benefit within this service working alongside the support workers.
